He recalled a dryer fire in a public laundry where firefighters removed smoldering towels and aprons from the dryer. They discovered some oil on the towels which ignited from the heat of the dryer.

When asked how this happens, Brusseau explained, “Rags soaked in flammable liquids like gas, oil or some cleaning supplies should be line dried, even if they are washed first.
